The Multi Banana Boat stems from a four-decade-old dream of its inventor, company president Leon Halfon. His vision for the boat grew out of his own experiences as a physiotherapist and lifeguard, and his personal love for watersports.
As a teen, Leon developed the first model in 1960, constructed of wood and canvas and weighing 300 lbs. Subsequent hand-assembled models through the years evolved to wood and fiberglass, then to foam and fiberglass, and now to rotomolded polyethylene foam weighing only 81 lbs.
As a lifeguard, Leon rescued over 275 drowning people using the boat's unique rescue capabilities.
Leon outsources the manufacturing and presides over the company. He holds patents pending on the current design. The board is in its fifth major design cycle and is the first to be released to the market. Prior designs have received enthusiastic support through articles that chronicle the benefits of the board. The current design leverages modern day materials and manufacturing techniques to improve functionality and handling while reducing product unit costs.
